Our Chiropractic Techniques
Our years of experience are evident in the Chiropractic techniques we use in our clinic. These techniques include highly-effective adjusting approaches that help to improve spinal biomechanics and reduce nervous system interference. The methods have been arrived out through our years of experience and clinical judgment.
We use the following primary adjustment techniques to get the best results for our patients.
The primary adjusting techniques we use include:
Diversified
Here we identify vertebrae that have been dislocated from their position and apply a specific manual thrust to release stiff spinal joints.
Diversified Technique
We make use of the ‘Diversified’ adjusting style quite well at Major Family Chiropractic. We begin by carrying out an X-Ray analysis of your spine and studying your case history. Subsequent visits involve the use of motion palpitation where the chiropractor has to feel the movement of your spinal joints when you bend or turn. The physician may go further to perform a leg check to reveal any imbalance in the neck and lower spine.
The Chiropractor applies a specific manual thrust after the malposition of the errant spinal bones has been identified. This method of returning shifted spinal bones to their original position takes precision, skill, and patience to achieve. Only someone with experience and a deep understanding of spinal mechanics can carry it out.
During treatment, the patient may hear a slight popping sound. This occurs due to gas and fluids shifting in the affected joint as a manual thrust is carried out. This is a clear sign of the viability of the treatment alongside the overwhelming relief that you feel after.
At Major Family Chiropractic, we believe that improving spinal biomechanics is capable of reducing nervous system interferences. We also believe that nearly all joints within the human body can be adjusted to restore the human body’s proper range of movement.
Thompson
Known as the Thompson Terminal Point technique special system involves a special table that reduces the amount of energy need to adjust a patient’s spine.
Thompson
The Thompson Technique
Named after its developer Dr. Clay Thompson, this technique has developed into a system of analysis used to adjust the entire human spine. The end result is precise spinal adjustments that bring comfort and relief to the patient.
- A System of Analysis
In the early days of the practice, chiropractors noticed that subluxations often manifested as a short or contracted leg. The analysis developed from this then involved comparing the lengths of the legs using a protocol while the patient’s head was turned. This analysis helped to pinpoint the exact location of the subluxation on the human spine.
- Thompson Table
The Thompson table allows the patient to be lowered to a prone position, as individual drop pieces give way, the amount of energy need to adjust your spine reduces.
- Terminal Point Table
The segmental drop is the first part of the terminal table that can be easily noticed by our patients. The table lowers you into a horizontal position as you step on it. The terminal point table helps to preserve leg inequalities.
Each area of your spine is supported by individual cushions and drop pieces located along the surface area of the table while the spinal thrust is being administered. Each drop piece reduced the volume of energy needed to segment the spine during treatment.
- Popular and Patented
The patent for the Thompson Table was granted in 1955. Its precision and result in the treatment of patients suffering from spinal conditions have added to its prominence around the globe.
CBP
Known as the Clinical Biomechanics of Posture, it is concerned with the improvement of human posture, balance, spinal alignment, and restoration of essential spinal curves in the human body.
CBP®
Clinical Biomechanics of Posture assists the human body in achieving optimal posture and spinal alignment. The system assists your spine to align better with gravity leading to fewer symptoms and much better spinal health for you.
- The Ideal Spine
At Major Family Chiropractic, we’ll take pictures of your spine and compare it with the accepted standard for an ideal human spine. This method allows us to point out any deviations which will inform us of the further steps we need to take.
- Corrective Care Protocol
This protocol ensures long-lasting spinal changes and corrections for our patients. We usually recommend corrective care to patients after symptomatic relief has been achieved. The changes are achieved with the application of specific adjustments, exercise, and traction.
- Adjustments – this assists in the restoration of segmental integrity to the human spine. It also helps to reduce abnormal weight distribution and avert spinal degeneration.
- Traction – this helps to deliver a constant force that is used to remodel and recondition the human spine to counter the effects of long-time postural distortions.
- Exercise – we design custom exercises specifically for the spinal abnormality of each patient. We use these custom-tailored exercises to make weaker areas of the spine, longer.
- Documented Spinal Changes
Our objective standards and openness about our treatment process and procedure will ensure dramatic spinal changes in very little time.
Pettibon
With this system, we’ll reveal to you that gravity is your biggest enemy when it comes to the health of your lower back and neck bones. This system helps us to evaluate how your spine has adapted to the treatment process. Pictures will also be taken for the duration of the process so that your progress can be closely monitored.
CBP®
The Pettibon System is a gravity-based approach to Chiropractic service developed by Dr. Burl Pettibon.
- High Level of Accountability
A complete radiographic analysis of your spine is carried out to allow us to have a clear view of how much your spine has adapted to the stress caused by gravity. To have a true picture of how things really stand, we carry out X-rays of your spine while you’re seated. This is because our years of experience have revealed that there’s more stress on your spine when you sit down than when you stand.
The X-Rays of your spine is carried out the same way every time so that uneven leg lengths does not affect the treatment progress. At the end of the process, the pictures of your spine we took at the beginning of the treatment and after is compared to evaluate the progressive changes made by your spine for the entire period.
- Three Types of Care
The first phase starts from complaints regarding acute joint pains and aches. This first stage of chiropractic care usually takes two weeks and involves specific home care treatment to fast-track your relief.
The second phase of care lasts for three months with patients having to visit our clinic at least three times a week – the length of treatment time depends on the extent of spine damaged. This stage of Chiropractic care is reserved for people who want a permanent solution to their spine problems. The treatment here is combined with home procedures that work with amazing efficacy.
The third and final stage helps people who want to enhance their posture, muscle strength, and endurance. The frequency of visits here is pretty minimal.
- A True Partnership
The success of Major Family Chiropractic depends on its partnership with patients. Without your participation in the treatment process, we won’t achieve much. As long as you trust us and participate every step of the way, you will get the desired results.
